 How To FAQs

How fast are your servers?

We are using the latest Windows 2000-based Server software, with the most recent service packs running on high-speed Pentium-based systems. Large amounts of RAM and hard-drive space allows our web servers to run at optimum speed with minimal slow-downs or bottlenecks. But, as with all ISPs, we are at the mercy of the traffic on the net. At our busiest, our backbone connection is less than 20% utilized.

We have a direct connection to the Internet backbone via multiple tier one backbone providers, the very heart of the net. This eliminates any slowdowns from bandwidth overuse or added delay from extra connections that are usually seen when passing information through intermediate ISPs. Virtually all internet traffic must pass through the backbone at some time on it's journey which then becomes susceptible to the vast amount of traffic currently on the Internet. We are like a six-lane onramp to a four-lane freeway. Eight-lane onramps won't necessarily get you there any faster.
