Using Web Folders
A shortcut to a web server is called a Web Folder. Web
folders provide an easy way for you to view files and folders on
your web site.
You can view, manage, move, copy, save, and rename the files
and folders on a Web server just as you would perform the same
actions in Windows Explorer. However, when you view the contents
of a Web folder, you see a list of files and folders and their
associated Internet addresses.
Here are simple step-by-step instructions
on how to create an Web Folder for your web site:
- Establish an Internet connection
- Click on MY NETWORK PLACES (or Network Neighborhood) on
your Windows desktop
- Double-click on the ADD NETWORK PLACE icon
- When prompted for location, type in your
web address as follows:
http://www.yoursite.com
- Click NEXT...
- Enter your username and password when
prompted
- Choose a name for your web folder when
prompted
- That's It!
Your web site/web folder will now be
accessible via:
MY NETWORK PLACES or via Windows
Explorer.
You can even create a shortcut on your desktop
for quick access to your web folder.
