 How To FAQs

Customizing Your Hit Counter

The Hit Counter component in Microsoft® FrontPage® 2000 lets you choose your own custom GIF as a source for the counter's digits. This GIF is a single image with the digits 0-9 evenly spaced along a single line. You can create such a GIF yourself, or you can use one of .gifs below.

led.gif (381 bytes) odometer.gif (2692 bytes)
lcd.gif (292 bytes) scoreboard.gif (348 bytes)
chalk.gif (1041 bytes) timex.gif (1401 bytes)
neat.gif (955 bytes)

Right-click on one of the images above, then save it to your hard disk. Import it into your web using FrontPage Explorer's Import command (on the File menu). Then, when you create a hit counter, select Custom Image and type the path to your new GIF, such as "images/led.gif".

One word of warning about these GIFs: Avoid the ones numbered "1234567890";
they won't increment properly!
