 How To FAQs

Copy your Internet web site back to your local computer

Scenario:

You have a web site that is published to an Internet Web Hosting Server, and now you would like to transfer a copy of it back to your computer.

Reasons:

There are a variety of reasons that you might need to do this, here are a few of the most common ones:

  1. Perhaps you or your web designer have made changes to your Internet Web Site that are more current than the copy on your computer.

  2. You made changes to your web site on your computer and now you've changed your mind.  Help!  You want everything back the way it was.  You had a back-up right?  If not, shame on you.  Never totally rely on the remote server copy of your Internet site as your only back up.

  3. Your hard drive crashed and you need to restore a copy of your site to your computer.  (Again, you make regular backups of your hard drive, right?)

  4. You have purchased a new computer and you want an easy way to load a copy to your new machine.

  5. You want a copies on both your home and work computers.
