NOBODY ALIAS - The 'Catch-All' Email Address
blackdot.gif (800 bytes)

Default Mail Drop using the 'NOBODY' Alias

A "catch-all" email address allows delivery of all mail that is sent to someone@yourdomain.com, when 'someone' doesn't exist. For example, suppose you have the following three email addresses set up:

you@yourdomain.com
sales@yourdomain.com
info@yourdomain.com

Suppose further, that someone sends an email to the address:

information@yourdomain.com

That email would go to the 'default,' or 'catch-all' email address.  In other words, any email sent to a non existent user/mailbox will be delivered if the 'nobody' alias is setup for your domain.

Configuring the 'Nobody' Alias

You can add a NOBODY alias by accessing your Alias Administration option in WebMail and creating a new alias named 'nobody' (without the quotes).  You can specify the forwarding address for the nobody alias, which is the email address or mailbox to which you want the mail delivered.

Any mail sent to a non-existent user on your domain will go to wherever the 'nobody' alias points to. So - if the 'nobody' alias points to you@yourdomain.com, all mail sent to non-existant@yourdomain.com will go to your personal inbox.

We recommend forwarding the nobody alias email to your Email Host Administrator mailbox.
