How can I
have 'unlimited' E-mail aliases?
When your domain is setup on our email servers, a catch-all
email address (also referred to as a 'nobody
alias') is automatically configured. The 'nobody alias' will
route all mail for anyname@yourdomain.com
to your main email account. This allows you to use a virtually
limitless number of e-mail address.
You can change where the "nobody alias" mail is delivered by
logging into your WebMail account and updating the forwarding
address for the "nobody alias". You can forward the
"nobody alias" to a different POP account in your domain, or to
any other valid email address on the Internet.
The nobody alias should not be confused
with any other pre-defined aliases you decide
to create for your domain. These settings can be changed
via the configuration options available within your WebMail
account.
A 'pre-defined'
alias is an e-mail address that you can set up in addition
to the existing nobody alias. For example, let's say that you have a Sales
Manager named Dave Peterson. E-mail addressed to dave@yourdomain.com
could be forwarded directly to Dave's AOL account at dpeterson@aol.com,
while all other mail (your nobody alias) gets forwarded to you.

Can we have
multiple people in our company/organization that each have their
own private e-mail box?
- You can configure additional POP3 Login email boxes for
other users under your domain up to the number included with
your web hosting plan. Additional POP3 account capacity
can be added as an extra service at a modest cost. You
can setup new POP3 mailboxes via the configuration options
available within your WebMail account.
- You can configure an unlimited number of e-mail alias addresses for each
user in your company. This e-mail alias address can be
forwarded to the
individual user's dialup ISP account, web-based mail account
(ie: Hotmail, Yahoo Mail, Mailexcite, Juno or other free
e-mail account) or any other existing private e-mail account
that they are currently using on the Internet.
- If you operate your own Internet compliant mail
server, Acme can provide the necessary DNS services, mail
routing and back up mail services to allow delivery directly
to your corporate mail server. On your mail server,
you have the flexibility to set up as many e-mail accounts
as you require. Costs and/or set up fees for this
service may apply depending upon your configuration.
For example, if you are running a Microsoft Exchange mail
server, Acme offers support via ETRN for a modest additional
monthly fee. For more information, please contact sales@acmeinternet.com.

Can we forward email
addresses or aliases to different people regardless of whether they are
located in the same office/locality?
Yes. We have many customers who have branch
offices in different states (in some cases different countries),
yet they all share the same company domain name. You can
setup individual addresses and forwarding via the configuration
options available within your WebMail account. This
allows multiple users to receive e-mail under your domain name
even if you each have different ISP's. For example,
mail could be routed as follows:
mary@yourdomain.com routed
to mary@aol.com
john@yourdomain.com routed to john@compuserve.com
bob@yourdomain.com routed to bob@local-isp.com

How much mail can I
send or receive from my POP3 E-mail Account?
We don't have a set quota on outgoing mail. For any
type of regular personal or business usage, (messages, file
attachments, etc.) you can send and receive as much e-mail as
you like, within reason, of course. Just remember that your POP3
email account is NOT a substitute for:
- High volume mailing lists
- Excessively large file transfers that should use web or
FTP download methods
- Any other bulk usage that would put an excessive load on
the servers and adversely affect mail performance for other
users
If you believe you have a high traffic email application,
please contact us.
We have many options available to help you meet your unique
email needs.

Can I send mass mailings,
or unsolicited bulk e-mail from my E-mail Account?
No. We have a firm
policy against sending outgoing bulk e-mail (also known as
spam, junk mail, unsolicited e-mail, whatever you choose to call
it). Like most ISP's, we are unable to permit this for a variety of
reasons including: excessive CPU usage, strain it can put on a
given mail server which results in poor mail server performance
for our other customers, getting relays from our mail servers
blocked/blacklisted by other ISP's (which also affects all of
our users), and the myriad of complaints that it generates.

What happens if I HAVE sent a large number of
emails that are not Spam?
Our mail servers are protected from unauthorized bulk
usage and spammers using DECLUDE HIJACK. If you
have sent out a large number of emails, and find that they are
being bounced back, or not being sent at all, you have probably
exceeded the normal usage limit, and your email has probably been
flagged by Declude.
