Secure Server Options

"I would like the ability to securely accept credit card information on my web site.
What SSL options are available, and how much do they cost?"

SSL Web Server Certificates are available from several vendors including Verisign, Thawte and QuickSSL.

YOUR OWN DIGITAL SERVER ID

QuickSSL™ is the quick, cost-effective security solution by GeoTrust. QuickSSL is a web server certificate that allows consumers and web sites to conduct safe e-commerce with encrypted SSL connections. The price for a new QuickSSL certificate is $149.

Thawte charges $199 for a dedicated SSL digital ID for your web site.  Annual renewals are $159.

Verisign charges $349 for a dedicated SSL digital ID for your web site.  Renewals are $249 per year thereafter. Also, if you change any information concerning your company, including but not limited to, company name, phone number, contact person, or server, a new key must be generated. If these changes happen a few months after you received your original key, then the new key will have a regeneration fee of $100. International clients are charged an extra $100 for each year by Verisign.  For additional details, view the Verisign Enrollment Guide.

With either a QuickSSL, Verisign or Thawte SSL digital ID, your secure web pages would have a secure URL in the following format:

https://www.yourdomain.com/secure
